Pirates of the Carribean
HUM 351: Ancient Myth, Folklore, and Legend Final Project Assignment Throughout this course, we will be looking at mythology and the types of myths that humans create to make sense of their world, their cultures, and their existences. As a final presentation, you will be looking at a new, modern “myth” from popular culture. The project will ask you to create a PowerPoint with VoiceOver (Kaltura is the best way to do this) that presents the following about your chosen modern myth: 1. A brief summary of the myth 2. What type(s) of myth it is, and how you know 3. What connections it has to ancient myths and myth types, 4. Why that type of myth was useful/what they tell us about past civilizations 5. What this modern myth tells us about our civilization 6. What the myth can teach us about humanity or human culture in general The Movie Pirates of the Caribbean specific comparisons between the myth that you are focusing on (Prometheus) and the ones that we read in the course.
